At Food for Families, we know that meeting the needs of our community, especially our senior neighbors take strong partnerships. One organization that exemplifies this collaborative spirit is the Council on Aging in Union County, a trusted advocate and resource for older adults across our community.
The Council on Aging in Union County provides a wide range of services designed to help seniors age safely, independently, and with dignity. From in‑home assistance and caregiver support to home safety modifications, Medicare counseling, medical equipment access, and adult day programs, COAUC serves as a vital hub for seniors and their families navigating the challenges that can come with aging.
Senior Wellness Expo: Meeting Seniors Where They Are

Food for Families was honored to partner with the Council on Aging in Union County during their recent Senior Wellness Expo, an event that brings together community organizations committed to senior health and well‑being. During the expo, our team distributed 469 senior nutrition bags to attendees, each filled with easy‑to‑prepare, nutritious food items designed to support seniors facing food insecurity.
Events like this demonstrate the power of partnership. By collaborating with the Council on Aging in Union County, we were able to connect directly with seniors, providing both nourishment and reassurance in one place.
Looking Ahead: Corks & Forks Fundraiser

We are also excited to partner with the Council on Aging in Union County for their annual Corks & Forks fundraiser on April 18. This signature event plays a critical role in supporting the organization’s wide‑ranging programs for seniors. Food for Families is proud to assist by providing the use of one of our refrigerated vans for the day, helping ensure food and beverages are handled safely and efficiently throughout the event.
Corks & Forks is more than a fundraiser; it is a celebration of community and a reminder that nonprofits are strongest when they support one another.
Why Partnerships Matter
The needs of seniors, food security, health, safety, and social connection are deeply interconnected. No single organization can meet these needs alone. By working closely with trusted partners like the Council on Aging in Union County, Food for Families is able to extend our reach, strengthen our impact, and better serve those who rely on us.
Simply put, nonprofits are stronger together. When organizations collaborate with shared purpose, the entire community benefits.
