Partnership increases access to nutritious food

Food for Families NC, Inc., has received $5,000.00 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help nourish neighbors experiencing hunger. The “Nourishing Our Neighbors” grant supports community feeding partners as they tackle food insecurity and promote healthier lifestyles through nutritional education initiatives.

“We’re excited and honored to receive these much-needed funds from Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation,” said Amy Niccolai, Executive Director, Food for Families. “We continue to focus on providing high nutritional value foods which many of our food-insecure neighbors simply cannot afford. A balanced diet is essential, and the additional produce, fruit, dairy, or meat will increase access to food rich in nutrients, high in protein, calcium, vitamins, and minerals.”

The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to supporting families facing food insecurity across its 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded nearly $23 million in grants.
