On March 19, 2026, Food for Families was honored to once again welcome students, faculty, and staff from Wingate University to our warehouse for their annual One Day, One Dog service event. This marks the second year Wingate has chosen to spend the day serving alongside us and we are deeply grateful for their continued commitment to giving back to the community they call home.

Volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help with hands‑on projects that directly support families facing food insecurity. From packing food bags to assisting with ongoing warehouse needs, the Wingate team played an important role in helping us move food efficiently from donation to doorstep. Their time, energy, and enthusiasm made a meaningful impact for the neighbors who rely on our programs each week.

Wingate University Campus Culture of Service

One Day, One Dog is a powerful example of Wingate University’s broader culture of service. Beyond this annual event, we are fortunate to have several Wingate student organizations volunteer with Food for Families throughout the year. Their consistent presence strengthens our operations and reinforces the idea that addressing hunger is a shared responsibility.

Supporting Students Through Paw Provisions

Our partnership with Wingate University also extends to campus through the university’s free, on‑campus student pantry known as Paw Provisions. Food for Families delivers food to Paw Provisions weekly, providing both perishable and non‑perishable items to help students focus on their education without worrying about consistent access to food.

This partnership reflects a shared understanding: food insecurity can affect anyone, including college students, and meeting that need requires collaboration, compassion, and action.

Stronger Together

Events like One Day, One Dog remind us how powerful community partnerships can be. When students, educators, and nonprofits work together, the impact ripples far beyond a single day of service. We are thankful for Wingate University’s continued support and proud to partner with an institution that so clearly lives out its commitment to service.

Together, we are Feeding Families, Changing Lives and building a stronger, more connected community for all.
