Food for Families was awarded $35,363 in ARPA-enabled funds from the Town of Indian Trail. This funding is part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocations aimed at supporting community-based projects and helping those in need.
Amy Niccolai, Executive Director for Food for Families, expressed gratitude, stating, “The Town of Indian Trail has supported many non-profit organizations over the past 3 years through the ARPA funds, and we are thrilled to have been awarded funding for pallets of food, a new pallet jack, a back-up generator for our freezer and cooler units, as well as tablets and computers to utilize during our mobile distributions. Each one of these funded items will benefit and bless our food insecure neighbors in the community for many years.”
Food purchases included one pallet each of peanut butter, canned tuna, canned chicken, pasta sauce, mixed fruit, and condensed cream of chicken soup. These items are the most used and highest cost items for our backpack program and Senior Bag program.
The pallet jack allows warehouse operations to continue while existing equipment is transported to mobile distribution sites.
Tablets and computers will be used to collect mobile pantry recipients’ data and allow volunteers to sign up for shifts and projects.
The addition of the natural gas generator will ensure that all perishable and frozen items remain within USDA storage requirements during any power loss, preventing spoilage.
Each of these generously donated items through the ARPA-Enabled funds awarded to Food for Families is essential to serving the growing number of families served monthly by Food for Families. We are proud of the continuing partnership and support from the Town of Indian Trail!
